Third & mixed conditionals

• Third conditional: "If + past perfect, would have + past participle" for an unreal past.
• Mixed conditional: past condition, present result → "would be" (no "have").
• The if-clause never takes "would": "If I had known…", not "If I would have known…".
• Mixed conditional: present unreal cause ("weren't lazy"), past unreal result ("would have got").
• Third conditional result clause: would + not + have + past participle.
• Mixed conditional: past condition ("had brought"), present result ("wouldn't be lost now").
• Pure third conditional: past condition and past result, both unreal and finished.

• If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.
• If she hadn't missed the flight, she would be here now.
• If I had known, I would have told you.
• If he weren't so lazy, he would have got the job last year.
• I would not have missed the train.
• We wouldn't be lost now if you had brought the map.
• If I had left earlier, I would have caught the train.
