The rules

  • Collocation: "arrange/schedule/set up a meeting".
  • "Work to a deadline", fixed preposition.
  • "Responsible FOR" a task or area.
  • "Quit his job" (informal) or "resigned (from his job)" (formal), both work.
  • "Ask for a pay rise" (BrE) / "raise" (AmE).
  • Office idiom: "take it offline" = discuss separately later.
