The rules
- "Check in" at airports and hotels; "check out" when leaving a hotel.
- A connecting flight is a "connection": "missed our connection".
- Cars and taxis: "get in/out"; buses, trains, planes: "get on/off".
- Asking about a seat: "Is this seat taken?"
- Timetable question: "What time does … leave?"
- "Hire/rent a car" (pay to use). "Borrow" implies no payment.
