always, usually, never

Say how often you do things.

The rules

  • Every day = always.
  • With "be", the frequency word goes after it: "is often".
  • With other verbs, the frequency word goes before the verb: "sometimes play".
  • She hates it, so she never eats it.
  • Ask about frequency with "How often…?"
  • Subject + frequency word + verb.

Examples

  • I always drink coffee in the morning. Every day!
  • He is often late.
  • They sometimes play tennis.
  • She never eats fish. She hates it.
  • How often do you go to the gym?
